Youth Mental Health First Aid

September 23, 10am-2:30pm - $40

MHFA teaches adults who have or work with youth the common disorders and challenges youth face. Anxiety, Depression, Screen time, Suicide and Self Harm along with an Action Plan to prevent will be discussed. This Virtual class consists of 2 hours of self directed online learning and 4 hours of virtual instruction.

Virtual Coffee Talk - Mary DeTurris Poust

Join us for a speaker series meant to nourish mind, body, and soul (and caffeine needs!) Our speakers come from a variety of backgrounds and will discuss different challenges facing us as a society. Over the course of one hour, you’ll be given the chance to re-create and recreate from the comfort of your own home as our speakers help sort through difficulties we could all face.

“Put Your Own Mask On First: Spiritual Self Care During Challenging Times” 9/29/ 10 AM – Mary is a published author, retreat leader, communications strategist, wife, and mother of three children. Mary will talk share tips and tools for maintaining and sustaining self-care.

Over the course of one hour, you’ll be given the chance to re-create and recreate from the comfort of your own home as our speakers help sort through difficulties we could all face.

“Belonging: the Loneliness of the Teenage Generation”/ “Who do you say that I am? Religion and Young People Q&A” 10/27 10 AM – Josh earned his doctorate in sociology from Vanderbilt Institute, and is a talented writer and speaker. He’s been published in Christianity Today, The Huffington Post, and Christian Science Monitor, and has authored many books on his own and in collaboration with others. Josh will be discussing his newest work, Belonging: Reconnecting America’s Loneliest Generation, as well as the state of youth and religion based on research conducted by Springtide Research Institute, where Josh is also the Executive Director.

“Helping Teens with Stress, Anxiety and Depression” Roy is a Catholic author, speaker, and psychotherapist, who will expertly blend his experience as a youth minister with his clinical practice as a licensed counselor to discuss the challenges facing youth today. This interactive question and answer session will explore the major causes of stress and anxiety in young people, how to distinguish between healthy and toxic stress, the art of listening, and what we can do to protect our own mental health.

“Filling your own cup” – Beth is an experienced youth minister, as well as the director of Camp Breakaway for middle and high school aged youth. As we enter Advent, Beth will discuss best practices to maintain and enhance your prayer life in order to dive deeper into the season of Advent.
